What is Equilibrium
|
Equilibrium, your Community Wellness Center, broadens the scope of resilience, recovery and healing provided by Paradise Stronger.
The Equilibrium community wellness center will be located in the back half of the building in the new location of Paradise Stronger. Prior to the devastating CampFire that decimated the town of Paradise in November 2018, this building served as a retail space. One of the few buildings that survived, the front half has been converted into a gym space where community members attend fitness classes, work with personal trainers, and focus on physical/mental/emotional health. The back half of the building, which appears as a very large common room, has been converted by Jess Mercer into a community wellness space named “Equilibrium”. This space will serve the need for overall community emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing for years to come. Equilibrium will serve as a safe gathering space for the entire Ridge community. Helping people find their own head space and emotional space so they can feel like they have some kind of reprieve; they can have a break from life. |

Jess MercerCREATOR AND PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Jess Mercer, tends to wear a variety of hats around the community. She is a trauma informed education specialist and serves several schools in Butte County. Jess runs trauma informed arts enrichment programs for students experiencing and overcoming trauma daily; she used her therapeutic art company to support over 100 community oriented art collaborations and contributions and wrote several grants generating over a million dollars towards rebuilding the ridge community. She has an accelerated passion to bridge people together with common interests and conversations, and typically use art as the framework to do so gracefully. She has been blessed to reach great personal and professional successes in the past few years, including being awarded the first ever key to the Town of Paradise, California.

KENDALL aRGELACTIVITIES COORDINATOR
Kendall Argel, a Paradise native is excited to bring her creative planning to The Equilibrium at Paradise Stronger. She enjoys spending time outdoors and with her Family. Kendall is inspired by creator Jess Mercer’s vision, to build an all-inclusive safe space that promotes healing, creativity and wholeness. She hopes to continue to nurture this vision for our community for years to come.
