The Ridge Hiking AssociationWe are a community organization of like minded travelers, hikers, and nature lovers on The Paradise Ridge. We meet at cool places to hike, snowshoe, paddle, and race around the greater Paradise Ridge area. Above all, we are a low key, fun group of health enthusiasts that enjoy sharing hikes and nature experiences with our community - come hang out and hike with us!

Butte County’s high country turns into a winter wonderland once the snow season begins. Whether by ski, snowshoe, or snowmobile, one of the best local spots to experience winter sports is in Jonesville.
This tiny but historic town just past Butte Meadows lies within Lassen National Forest not too far from the headwaters of Butte Creek. The Jonesville Staging Area off of Humboldt Road is the starting point for a variety of winter adventures. This approximately 3-mile out-and-back trail near Lovelock, California is generally considered an easy route.
This trail incorporates some of the Trailway that has been converted, “rails-to-trails” path that runs parallel to Skyway for much of its length. |

Although smaller than the better-known Phantom Falls, this unique little waterfall is so worth the short trek it takes to find it.
This short and easy hike leads to a fun seasonal waterfall and tons of wildflowers in one of the most picturesque spots in Northern California. Considering the trail is so short and easy, there's simply no reason not to! The hike to Hollow Falls is just under 1 mile long, so the entire adventure is less then 2 miles. The Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve (BCCER) contains 3,950 acres of diverse canyon and ridge habitats, including 4.5 miles of Big Chico Creek, and is home to many species of plants and animals.
The Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve is located on the ancestral land of the Mechoopda Indian Tribe and under the direction of Chico State Enterprises. Their mission is to work to preserve critical habitat and to provide a natural area for environmental research and education. |

Head out on this 7.3-mile out-and-back trail near Chico, California. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 4 hours to complete. This trail is great for hiking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring.
This trail takes you along a Georgia Pacific two track from the Cohasset firing range down to Cohasset Beach along Chico Creek. The trail is mostly forested and provides a lot of shade and the creek is a great place for a swim. This trail is a great escape from the summer heat. Bring a picnic and enjoy the beach as a nice reward at the end of your hike. |

Enjoy this 3.5-mile out-and-back trail near Canyon Dam, California. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 2 h 40 min to complete. This trail is great for birding and hiking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are October through July. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
Moderately steep terrain all the way to the falls and can be dangerous if snow level is below 4000'. Wildflowers are best in mid-March and some tall pines provide shade and spots to rest. |

Enjoy this hike Mill Creek, California. Generally considered a moderately challenging route. This is a popular trail for hiking and walking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
A hike along beautiful Deer Creek. This hike ends at a pool along the creek perfect for a leisurely lunch. In late spring this hike has many wildflowers, but is cool and green and shady. |

A Yosemite-style waterfall without the crowds, Feather Falls' 410-foot drop is an impressive display of nature’s grandeur in a dramatic Sierra Nevada setting. Hike 7-9 miles (depending on which trail you choose) through beautiful mountain scenery to reach two dramatic waterfall lookouts.
During certain times of year, keep your eyes open for millions of migrating ladybugs at Frey Creek. Hikers can take in the falls from the lookout, or hike to the top for a dramatic view and access to beautiful Fall River that feeds the falls.One visit to this Butte County favorite will make it clear why it's one of the California's best waterfalls. |

Paradise Lake covers an area of 244 acres and is surrounded by beautiful wooded land and has a shoreline of 7.5 miles. It is one of two reservoirs which stores water for the community of Paradise. Because it is water supply for the public, it is strictly regulated.
The lake is open daily, except for Wednesdays, from 5am to sunset daily for biking, hiking, walking, fishing from shore or by boat. Rules and regulations and more information can be found at visitparadiselake.com. Daily fees apply. No annual passes are available at this time. |

To commemorate the CampFire, that devastated The Ridge on November 8, 2018, the Phoenix 5k was created as a tribute to the resiliency of the residents who have overcome.
Please join us in honoring those who were impacted by that day and have risen above. All proceeds will go toward offering free wellness events on the ridge. The route will utilize part of the Memorial Trail and will pass by many important locations in Paradise including homes, schools, parks, gardens, murals, the Police Station, the Fire Department, The Depot Museum, the Future Home of the Gold Nugget Museum and the Hope Plaza.
